18TH EDITION

Connecting companies to transform challenges into business opportunities for SMEs.

The event will celebrate its 18th edition with the presence of 483 companies dedicated to manufacturing processes such as foundry, machining, molds and dies, among others, and mainly those dedicated to the manufacture of machinery and equipment for foundry, forging, surface treatment, welding and iron and steel industry.

This meeting was attended by 21 European foundries, FEAF (Federación Española de Asociaciones de Fundidores) and the Federation Forge Fonderie of France. Foundries from Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Turkey and Romania were represented.

At the meeting, each attendee shared with the group the assessment of the current situation, relevant facts and expectations for the near future. CAEF provided extensive information on the global economic situation and the sectoral situation of European steel foundries. They also discussed the global situation of steel production in Europe in the face of Chinese competition, in aspects such as fair competition, quality and reliability of the European product, the European product brand, etc.

In addition to the working meeting, we were able to enjoy a guided tour of the old part of Vitoria-Gasteiz, visit the restoration works of the Old Cathedral and enjoy an excellent dinner at the Portalón restaurant.

During the second day we visited the Castmetal Vitoria foundry, located in the Industrial Park of Júndiz (Vitoria-Gasteiz).

CAEF (The European Foundry Association), created in 1953, is the umbrella organization of the European Foundry Industry. Its members include foundry associations from more than 20 European countries.

We would like to thank and congratulate the organizers for a very interesting conference for the sector as well as for the pleasant visit to the city.

The program has been based on three key and differentiating factors:

• Having a professional to perform the commercial function.
• The grouping and collaboration of several companies, allowing the search for synergies and the sharing of experiences.
• The methodology and coordination of the Gipuzkoa Chamber of Commerce.

It was an eminently practical program, starting with market prospecting, contacts, visits and the gathering of offers. In our opinion, this is the strong point of the program: its orientation to action, to the market and contact with clients. In our case, having the French market as a target, and having been able to access and get to know this market.

To thank the professional PROFEX, the Chamber of Commerce of Gipuzkoa and the Basque Government for the opportunity to participate in this program in this phase of initiation to export, and that already has continuity with other programs and resources.
